About the Book

American Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s mosque was only twelve blocks from the World Trade Center when it was attacked on September 11. In the aftermath of that tragedy, finding a common ground between his country and his religion became a personal quest.

Imam Abdul Rauf began by looking back to Abraham, who Jews, Christians, and Muslims all claim as their patriarch. By tracing common philosophical roots and religious values, acknowledging the contributions of the West, and by showing what Islamic culture can bring to a new reunion, What’s Right with Islam systematically lays out the reasons for the current cultural dissonance and offers a plan for improved relations.

Feisal Abdul Rauf is the Imam of Masjid al-Farah in New York City. Born in Kuwait to a long line of imams, he graduated from Columbia University. Abdul Rauf is on the Board of One Voice, whose initiative is to bring about peace between Israelis and Palestinians, and was appointed to the Council of 100 Advisors to the World Economic Forum on West-Islamic World Dialogue. Abdul Rauf is the author of Islam: A Search for Meaning and Islam: A Sacred Law, What Every Muslim Should Know About the Shari`ah.

“As someone with roots in both East and West, who has spent most of a lifetime attempting to build bridges between our cultures, I welcome this urgently needed book. An insightful examination of the universal values shared by the Muslim world and the West, it presents not just what is right with Islam, but what is right with America too. Imam Feisal speaks from the heart about the higher ground on which we can all unite. It is a book brimming with hope.”

- Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, author of Leap of Faith
